Vancouver: Washington's Oldest City

Vancouver is the oldest city in the state of Washington, and is full of interesting history. The town began as a trading post called Fort Vancouver, and you can see the full town history in living color at the Fort Vancouver National Historic Site. The site is preserved much as it was in the 19th century, and even the staff dress accordingly for the tours they conduct. For some of the most gorgeous views in the state, visit the Beacon Rock, a massive geological formation which evolved from a volcano. The hike to the top is about one mile, and the views will simply take your breath away - if you have any left after the hike!"
