Seattle offers its visitors gorgeously lush green scenery along with a busy and energetic big city atmosphere. The museums here are top notch and fit well with the intellectual bent of the area. The live music scene is very lively, and almost always ahead of the curve.

The emerald city of Seattle is like no other in the world. Nestled on the shores of Puget Sound just 113 miles from the Canadian border it nevertheless enjoys a year-round temperate climate with average highs in summer a comfortable 75 degrees. In winter, the mercury rarely falls below freezing.

With a population of just under 600,000 Seattle ranks 23rd in size of all U.S. cities making it quite manageable while at the same time invitingly cosmopolitan. Its residents are an educated bunch with a higher percentage of college graduates than in New York City, D.C., or Chicago.

Seattle is located in central and western Washington state, and is the nation's largest port city. The entire city is built on seven hills that are surrounded by water and beautiful scenery. Seattle is the name of an Indian chief who helped a large number of white settlers build the city in 1869.

Seattle has a warm and humid climate, yet has an abundance of mountains and ski resorts, as well as the Olympic National Park. Of course, it is also home to the Space Needle. Some 140 city parks and amusement parks can also be found in Seattle.

The main attractions of the city are definitely the Space Needle and the first Starbucks Coffee shop.
